by colemama Question by Ryan M: Would you favor a bill that charges obese people that would charge additional money for healthcare? I live in South Carolina. One of our State Senators, is proposing and supporting a Bill, that would charge Obese State Employees and a additional $ 25 a month on their healthcare. The Bill is suppose to be a “motivation” Bill, to get State Employees to lose weight. The Senator says that obese people are more of a risk to insure. The employees would be required to go to a Doctor and the Doctor decides if they are obese. I think people who are “medically obese” are excused from this charge. How do you feel about this? I personally favor it. I was once “quite obese” but have lost a good deal of weight. I believe that it is a good incentive.
